Getting To Bled
By Bus
Buses from the capital city of Ljubljana depart from the bus station close to the train station on the hour, every hour. On their return, these same buses depart from Bled on the half hour, with a bus leaving every 60 minutes. Travel time is about 80 minutes and the journey is comfortable, though uneventful. Bled's own bus station is nothing extraordinary and is basically equipped with a counter selling soft drinks, cigarettes and chocolate. It is located near the town centre, close to the north east end of the lake. You'll find an Alpetour office there that also has the ticket office for the bus station. There are toilets that can be used free of charge in the same building.

By Train
Trains connect most parts of Slovenia and are a great way to travel - for locals and tourists alike. The trains themselves are comfortable and modern, while the routes are extensive and serve most major towns and cities. There are also excellent connections to cities outside Slovenia and travellers can choose to arrive in the country from Austria, Hungary, Italy, Germany, Croatia, Czech Republic, Serbia, and Switzerland by train. This is a comfortable and inexpensive means of getting around the country as well.
The international train station, Lesce-Bled, where you can pick up international tickets, is located around 5 km from the town. Trains connect to Austria via Villach and Ljubljana and leave several times a day. The local train station or Bled Jezero, on the other hand, is a separate station and is 1.5 km from the town in the opposite direction! If you're arriving from Ljubljana, you will reach Lesce-Bled. There are trains every 2 hours from Nova Gorica and Jesenice.
If you choose to walk into town from the station it will take you about an hour. A taxi ride will cost you 8 to 10 Euros, while a bus will get you into the centre for around 2 Euros. Another option is to hop on a train to Jesenice and then switch to a train to Bled Jezero, but this will entail a 1 mile walk at the other end to get to the centre.
By Taxi
Once your train pulls into Lesce Bled railway station, you will need to make your way into the town centre. It is a good 4 to 5 km walk and is likely to take the better part of an hour. If you have a lot of luggage, it may be easier to hire a taxi from the station.
The airport has transfer services offered by various companies. The easiest way is to book transfer from our company Spin Travel and we take you to any place you want.
Getting Around Bled
Bled isn't a large city, so it is quite easy to make your way around by foot. In fact, a stroll through the scenic town centre and lakeside can actually be quite delightful!
To get to the island on the lake, you will need to buy a ticket on the traditional covered pletna boat. A return fare on this boat will cost you 12 Euro. Each boat can hold about 10 people and the rower usually doesn't set off until there are at least 3 or 4 passengers on board, so be prepared to wait. If you're physically fit and a good swimmer, you could even consider hiring a rowboat and getting yourself to the island on your own steam. Each boat waits for 30 minutes to an hour for you to explore and then returns. So a trip to the island can take about an hour and a half on the average. There are several departure points dotted around the lake.
When you're done exploring the island, you might want to do something a little unusual and hire a horse drawn carriage to visit the castle and beyond or to just take a ride around the rim of the lake.
